FAQs
What are some of the benefits of animal-assisted therapy?
The International Journal of Caring Sciences (2019) reports that animal assisted therapy can result in “reducing the expression of the negative symptoms of the disease, developing skills in various areas of patients’ personality and moreover improving their quality of life.”
But can this work virtually?
Pawsitive Teams says yes! “Did you know making eye contact with a dog can reduce anxiety? Did you know gazing at a PHOTO of a dog’s eyes creates a calming, connected state of being that, after 30 to 60 seconds, triggers the release of oxytocin in the brain? Oxytocin is a hormone that reduces anxiety and creates a calming, connected state of being.”
How do I decide which dog to work with?
We recommend connecting with their photos and seeing if there is one that you would like to connect with. If you are unsure, or would like a blend of the two, we can make an offering that fits your needs.
